It's so meta it hurts. First of all, Girl Talk mashup Maestro deconstructed pop music into a new form of art as a whole. Now, art is deconstructed again through the magic of Tesla coils.
The result is a part of hip-hop hooks and rock choruses, lightning part - and fantastically.
Girl Talk (also known as a friend of Gregg Gillis-blog) has submitted his song "This Is the Remix" as part of an experiment performed by the Orchestra of Tesla called the Spark Project Open. The joint venture has asked the musicians to deliver to the music that the orchestra can play in their giant Tesla coils.
MIDI files of their music artists, including the Orchestra of Tesla then turned the ignition in the air (many of them can be heard following "This is the remix" in the clip above). The songs of the band on Saturday in Cleveland.
With the exception of the track and a song Gillis Bach was all the music came together to open the project Spark original and most of it was composed to be performed using the Tesla coil, which can play only one note at a time. Using coils with these limitations have made it more difficult to organize the monitoring of Girl Talk, said Tesla Orchestra music director Keith Lewis in a phone interview with Wired.com.
"Take something where there are multiple arrangements and melodies, you have to choose the use of coils," said Lewis. "We chose the main melody and usually the bass line or harmony line of the existing runway and connected to a standard MIDI track and send this information to the coils and then play the background music with him."
The coils were built by Tesla Orchestra, which is at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. The machines are designed to emit bolts of electricity corresponding to the note on the keyboard.
